How to help your cat better cope with the cold?

Comment aider son chat à mieux supporter le froid?

Every winter, I see my cat change: he becomes calmer, more cuddly, and spends his days looking for the warmest spot in the house.
And honestly, I get it. I also need comfort when it's cold outside. 🫶

That's how my little winter cocooning routine was born, one I do every year with him, and which I wanted to share in this month's Cocoon Pets box.
Simple gestures full of tenderness, everything you need to warm up his winter.

1. A warm cocoon just for him

My cat loves to curl up in the most unlikely places: laundry baskets, blankets, cardboard boxes... 😹
So this winter, I created a little spot just for him, near the radiator, with a soft blanket and a natural warming sock that I warm up for a few minutes before placing it next to him. Since then, he stays there for hours, curled up, eyes half-closed (absolute bliss).

🪶 Little secret: in our winter box, we’ve included everything you need to create this little warm cocoon in your home too.

2. Gently caring for his coat

In winter, his fur thickens and requires a little more attention.
So I take the time to brush him gently, often during our evenings.
It removes dead hair and prevents hairballs, while creating a moment of bonding. (yes, I enjoy it a little)...

3. Adapting his diet without changing everything

I've noticed that in winter, he eats a little more and needs energy.
I choose foods rich in protein and omega-3, like salmon, which helps keep his coat shiny and him vital. 🐟
And most importantly, I make sure he always has fresh water, even if he drinks less when it's cold.

In our January box, you'll find a small gourmet selection designed to naturally strengthen his winter defenses.

4. Keeping him active, even when it's cold

Cats are true champions of idleness, especially when it's freezing outside.
But a few minutes of play each day is enough to boost their mood and circulation.
I often use a string, a ball, or even an empty box (their great love 😂).

And when he's tired, he goes straight back to his little spot... which I suspect has become his favorite place.

5. Human warmth above all

Nothing replaces presence.
I like to sit with him under the blanket, a cup of tea in hand, him resting his head on my lap.
I believe these moments warm both of us.
He closes his eyes. I smile. And that's exactly the spirit I want to convey with Cocoon Pets.

Because ultimately, the true cocoon is the one we share.

Conclusion:

Winter is no longer cold when you learn to live it gently.
These simple gestures have become my little cocooning rituals with my cat and I am so happy to be able to share them with you through our January box. 💛
